What do you, Justin Bieber, Brad Pitt, Fergie, Jake Gyllenhaal, Miley Cyrus, and I all have in common? We all have pants, shorts, jeans, skirts, etc… that have zippers that just won’t stay up.
I have a few garments, of course some of my favorite jeans, that I temporarily stopped wearing because the zippers always fell down, so I have dedicated this blog to help others with the same problem.
I have tried several homemade and retail solutions to fix this problem, and after all my research and trials, the solution that works hands down the best for me is a product called ZipperAde. ZipperAde is a solution I found online and has worked wonders. It is a small, undetectable, and pliable band that threads through the eye of your zipper and loops over your button, creating a tight bond that keeps your zipper in place. As a guy, it still allows you to go to the bathroom without having to unfasten it because your able to unbutton and unzip while it is still attached. Also, it is washer/dryer safe so once you put it on a pair of pants, it is always there and you don’t have to worry about taking it off and losing it. And my final observation is this product works for girls and guys of all shapes and sizes. I’m 6’5″ 225lbs and my fiance is 5’4″ 120lbs and we both use this product. Even on her skinny jeans it works great, she just has to pull both loops over her button (found that tip on ZipperAde’s Facebook Page). ZipperAde is also very reasonably priced. You get a 3 pack for $5 plus another $1 for shipping. So you basically save 3 pairs of pants for $2 each. Click here to check out their site. It also makes a great stocking stuffer.
Overall zipper fix rating: 10/10
So now you know what I consider to be the best fix, let’s take a look at some of the homemade ideas that I have tried along the way.
You can always go to a tailor or replace the zipper yourself, but that can be fairly expensive and/or time consuming, and there is no guarantee that your garment will fit or look the exact same way.
